ABOUT YKDA AND THE OFFICE MANAGER ROLE
The Yellowknife Day Care Association (YKDA) serves the community of Yellowknife by providing high-quality early childhood education through developmentally and culturally appropriate, play-based, and inclusive programming.
The Office Manager plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the organization. Responsibilities include:
● overseeing the administrative operations of YKDA and supporting the efficient functioning of the office;
● providing administrative and financial support to the Executive Director;
● coordinating internal communications with staff, families, and external partners;
● maintaining accurate records, files, and documentation; and
● supporting compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
The Yellowknife Day Care Association operates in a new (2018) purpose-built facility with a dedicated staff room, full commercial kitchen, nine classrooms, an office, and three outdoor play areas serving up to 104 children aged 1 to 4 years. YKDA also manages a separate building serving 30 afterschool children aged 4 to 8 years.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The successful applicant will have a combination of relevant education and experience and will demonstrate the following competencies in their cover letter and resume:
● completion of a post-secondary education program in a relevant field;
● strong competency with Microsoft Office and Google Drive;
● excellent verbal and written communication skills;
● strong organizational, time-management, and administrative skills;
● financial administration and bookkeeping experience;
● ability to work independently and collaboratively in a busy environment; and
● cultural awareness and professionalism.
Experience working in a non-profit or early childhood education setting is considered an asset.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
YKDA offers a competitive benefits package and salary, ranging from $36.50–$42.00 per hour, in addition to support for professional development. Salary is based on qualifications and experience.
